Description: Sustainability is a dynamic process that ensures evidence-based practices remain in place and become the standard for high-quality literacy instruction. Participants will learn five key features of sustainability to ensure literacy practices stick. Applying this definition of sustainability to a brief case study, participants will have the opportunity to practice outlining key implementation activities or strategies to maintain high-quality implementation of literacy best practices.

Speaker Biographies

Sophia Farmer is an Implementation Specialist and the K-12 Education Project Portfolio Lead at the National Implementation Research Network, where she provides implementation science support to a variety of education agencies and other child-serving agencies. She is also Co-Director of the State Implementation and Scaling-up of Evidence-based Practices Center, providing coaching and support to three state departments of education and designing and implementing communities of practice for a variety of university educator preparation programs, including doctoral and leadership programs. Sophia is excited to be leading the creation of a microcredentialing program in implementation practice frameworks and competencies. Sophia has extensive experience in the application of implementation and improvement sciences as a special educator, district leader, regional technical assistance provider, and state leader.
